Methods of Applying For Telephone Assistance

The state of Vermont offers the following two programs to help make telephone service more affordable for households with low income.

  • Lifeline Telephone Service Credit - this program helps with the ongoing cost of maintaining your phone service.

  • Link-Up Vermont - this program helps with the initial cost of getting phone service connected.

Residential customers who qualify may be eligible for a monthly fee reduction on their telephone rates. You may apply annually on the form included in your Vermont Income Tax return packet or contact the following agencies: The Senior Helpline: 1-800-642-5119 The Vermont Department of Children and Families (formerly PATH): 1-800-287-0589 (Voice/TTY).
