Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom, a Vermont based telecommunications solutions provider, located in central Vermont, is seeking a qualified Logistics Handler to join our team in our Waitsfield Service Area.  Responsibilities include working in concert with others logistics staff to ensure supply chain responsibilities, including purchasing and inventory control, as well as forecasting, planning, and maintaining a continuous flow of material, are achieved in support of telephone and broadband services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works in concert with other logistics staff to ensure plant operations continue as planned by maintaining a continuous flow of material and equipment.  Facilitates this process through the origination of purchases, as well as verification and storage of material received in support of the organization’s business needs.
  • Maintains warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, and timely storage of all materials and equipment.
  • Receives and distributes inventory to multiple locations ensuring accurate tracking, as well as maintenance of established inventory levels.  Actively participates in loss prevention strategies including assessment of current inventory.
  • Ensures all work is completed according to quality standards, always complying with proper safety standards/procedures and work practices according to WCVT or OSHA/VOSHA, whichever standard is higher.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

  • Lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires frequent periods of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, as well as frequent periods of walking, sitting, standing, and crouching.
  • Frequently in a climate controlled environment with many distractions; however, occasionally works in the field where varying environmental and weather conditions exist.  Moderate risks associated with operating power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to operate and travel by automobile to various Company locations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus two or more years’ purchasing knowledge and experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous successful completion of OSHA-10 course, or the ability to complete within the first month of service.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to safely and successfully operate a forklift.
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, and multi-tasking skills required in order to manage multiple tasks and/or projects with competing priorities and deadlines.  Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, friendly attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with team members, partners, and vendors.  Additionally, ability to take direction from others, as well work independently to successfully accomplish required performance objectives.
  • Ability to make decisions based upon limited information in non-standard situations.
  • Analytical and mathematical skills necessary to diagnose, report, and resolve issues while performing necessary purchasing and inventory related responsibilities.
  • Computer skills necessary including familiarity with Microsoft Office products, as well as the ability learn and frequently use organizational database applications.
