Spring Fiber Update
April 14th, 2026
Spring has finally arrived in Vermont, and fiber construction is fully underway across our service territory. This year, our technicians and construction partners will be working in Hinesburg, Huntington, North Ferrisburgh, Richmond, Starksboro, Waltham, Monkton, Bristol, and Lincoln, along with additional areas where final fiber placement, splicing, and final fiber network turnup work is being completed.
Over the past year, we have converted more customers to fiber than ever before, installing more than 219 miles of new mainline fiber and 177 miles of underground fiber and service drops.
As construction and installations ramp up, your active participation helps keep our projects on schedule. Responding promptly to a phone call, door tag, or scheduling an installation appointment helps move the process forward and brings you and your neighbors closer to being connected.
Thank you for your continued support as we expand our fiberoptic network. We’re proud to be building the future of connectivity right here in your community.
From Construction to Connection – I don’t have fiber yet, what can I expect?
Building a fiber-optic network is a multi-step process that takes time and lots of coordination. Here’s a quick overview of what’s involved:
- Strand and Mainline Fiber Installation – Fiberoptic cable is installed on utility poles and placed underground where needed.
- Fusion Splicing and Electronics – Our crews splice the fiber, install network electronics, and wire and install network splitter cabinets throughout the network.
- Network Testing and Turn-Up – The network is thoroughly tested and light levels are taken on every splice to ensure everything is working perfectly to ensure the reliability and performance of the network before beginning customer installations.
- Service Drops – During this phase, the fiber‑optic cable is installed from our main network to the exterior of your building. Installation methods vary based on whether the service is aerial or underground.
- Installations – Once your outdoor connection is complete, we’ll contact you to schedule the indoor installation at a time that works best for you.
These are large-scale infrastructure projects with many moving parts, and we appreciate your patience as we work to bring fast, reliable fiber internet to your community.
